About Me

The Grazer is a food based blog written by me, Anna Hedworth, in the beautiful North East of England. Originally an online archive to stop me losing those hand-scrawled recipes, The Grazer has become my food-life journal.

Documenting new recipes tried, meals shared and the odd food pilgrimage, as well as my own attempts to grow, bake, pickle and smoke my way through life. I like to experiment and challenge myself; learning how to make traditional products in my own kitchen – can I make a real Salami, my own butter, smoke some cheese or bake a decent Sourdough loaf.

I have my very own award winning restaurant, Cook House, in Newcastle's Ouseburn Valley; open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We recently moved from our shipping containers to a larger restaurant on Foundry Lane.

We very recently won an Observer Food Monthly Award for Best Cheap Eats in the North. We reentered The Good Food Guide for 2019 and were previously named as one of the 25 Best New Entries in 2017. We featured as one of the 25 coolest restaurants in The Times in 2016, the Top 10 budget restaurants in Newcastle by The Guardian and The 5 best restaurants of 2015 by Olive Magazine

I run my own curated food and dining events, from supperclubs and pop-up kitchens to markets, all held in amazing North East locations. Jesmond Food Market being a major recent project. The setting is as important as the food, whether it’s 20 strangers sharing plates in a candle-lit shipping container in Newcastle’s creative Ouseburn Valley or dining amongst the Castles and beaches of the Islands off Northumberland’s beautiful coast with the National Trust.

The Grazer has featured in Olive Magazine and The Guardian, as well as Marie Claire, The Sunday Times The Guardian again, Delicious Magazine, Living North, The Journal and Appetite Magazine.

The Grazer has been shortlisted for various blog awards including; the Cosmopolitan Blog Awards, best food blog; The North East Blogger Awards, again best food blog, as well as The National UK Blog Awards.
